BTL institute of Technology was established in 1997 by the BTL Educational Trust for Rural Development. The trust as well as BTL institute of Technology was founded and chaired by Prof. B. T. Lakshman, a non resident Indian settled in USA. The day to day functioning is looked after by the Working Chairman,and Supported by members of the Executive council. BTLIT is located on the Hosur Main Road, a stone's throw distance from the Electronic City, Bangalore, In 25 acres of lush green scenery, providing an excellent environment for a well balanced and highly competitive technical education. The institute is approved by the All India Counsel for Technical Education and Recognised by Govt. of Karnataka and  affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.

BTLIT is Just 15mins drive from Silk Board; 30 minutes from Jayanagar; 1 hour from Kempegowda Bustand.
